The pledge period is one of probation for the new member. Having accepted an invitation to pledge the fraternity during the rush period, the pledge begins the pledge program, which is a span of several weeks in which the brothers can better determine whether the pledge will be a positive and productive part of the fraternity. Conversely, it is also a time in which the pledge can make an informed decision about whether or not he wants the fraternity to be an integral part of his college life.



In order to accomplish this, our pledge program consists of several aspects of both work and fun. They will learn the history and ideals of Alpha Epsilon Pi. There will also be a series of fun team-building activities.



Pledging the Tau Mu Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi will be one of the greatest experiences of your life. Our new member education program is short and strictly non-hazing**. As a new member, you will learn about the history of our fraternity, both locally and internationally.The new member program teaches you about the amazing bonds of Brotherhood, and results in friendships that will last a lifetime. The best way to learn about AEPi is to try the program and to experience our Brotherhood!



It is also extremely important that new members hang out with the brothers as much possible in order to establish friendships early on. That being said, we recognize that everyone's primary purpose at Towson University is to get an education. The pledge program will not interfere with a pledge's academics. As a matter of fact, it will serve to compliment the individual's learning process through the implementation of mandatory study hours and a supportive learning environment in which older brothers can provide pledges with assistance in various academic fields. At the end of the pledge program (which will be several weeks prior to end of the academic semester), if the new member has successfully demonstrated that he will be a well-representing, productive member of the chapter and fraternity, and if the chapter has successfully shown the individual that we are the right place for him, he will become a brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi.



**Our pledge program is strictly non-hazing**. At no time will a pledge be put in an uncomfortable situation that will cause either physical or emotional harm. We will not subject anybody to anything that we would not want to do ourselves. We take pride in the fact that we educate our potential future brothers using a sense of belonging, friendship, and encouragement, and not intimidation, subordination or threats.​​​
